Reynolds Secondary's Green Group (an environment-focused extension of Leadership), has organized many activities and awareness raising campaigns in its short lifespan. Since September 2007, we have done the following:

[edit] Completed

-Mobile Recycling Depot and FoodRoots market (every 4th Saturday of the month from 9:00-1:00 in the Mackenzie/Borden parking lot)

-Did an energy use analysis of the school's essay papers (Using indicators from the SHS HSSAF)

-BCHydro's Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb fundraiser (which raised money for the group and also raised awareness about energy conservation)

-Sent working groups to Glendale Gardens for ecosystem restoration projects (through Reynolds' Flexible Studies Program)

-Pulled up invasive and harmful Garlic Mustard plants at mount Doug Park

-Gave an "EcoAwesome" workshop to middle school students at the Victoria Student Leadership Conference; Focused on an individual's impact on the environment

-Bought potted plants for 30+ classrooms to "green-ify" the inside of our school

-Fair Trade, Organic coffee and chocolate sale to raise funds for a school in Guatemala

-Put recycling bins around the school to encourage recycling

-Organized a school clothing swap to encourage people to reuse old clothes

[edit] In the works

-A campaign to encourage staff and students to REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

-Waste weigh-in

-A publicity campaign to raise awareness of the Group's existence in the school
